Australia’s beautiful weather and warm sunshine might be the envy of millions of people from around the world, but sun loving Aussies know all too well the harsh realities of too much of a good thing. We live in a unique climate of weather conditions where it can be absolutely picturesque one day and a raging torrent of rain, wind and floods the next.
There’s no doubt that such extremes can have an enormous and telling impact on your skin. Whether you live beside the sea, amongst the skyscrapers of the city, in the countryside or in the dry outback, your skin requires different products to suit the seasons. Your skin is as individual as you are and requires a personalised approach as there is no one-size-fits all skincare routine for everyone.
If you are looking to keep your skin young and full of vitality, then this is what you need to know in order to achieve you ideal skincare routine.
Step 1
Step 1: Eye Makeup Removal
Why do I need eye makeup removal when I’m just about to cleanse my face? Expecting a simple cleanse to remove all the makeup from around your eye area will leave you with a week’s worth of mascara and built up eye shadow. Nobody wants panda eyes! Eye make up remover is the first step in preparing your face for its nightly routine, plus it can help remove stubborn lipstick too.
Step 2
Step 2: Cleanse
Cleansing is often the only step in our daily skincare routine that we complete morning and night, rain, hail or shine. Simply massage cleanser into your skin by using gentle, circular motions with your fingertips. This will remove surface impurities and environmental pollutants, clean off any excess makeup and leave your skin feeling refreshed and rejuvenated!
Step 3
Step 3: Exfoliate
During both the cooler and warmer months it’s ideal to start your skincare routine by exfoliating. It doesn’t need to be done on a daily basis (An Ella Baché Therapist can advise how often to exfoliate based on your skin conditions), but if you want to restore your skin to its glory days, then exfoliating is the perfect place to start. Exfoliation will remove any dead skin built up, unclog pores and help to remove black heads, particularly from your t-zone.
It’s best to gently exfoliate your neck, chest and shoulders too to ensure your skin is looking radiant, silky and full of life.
Step 4
Step 4: Serum
Using a serum may seem like a little luxury, but it’s definitely worth the investment.
While serums can give you added moisture, the main reason you'd want to use a facial serum is to get added nutrients into deeper layers of your skin. Serums are formulated with concentrated amounts of active ingredients and can be used for their anti aging properties or their skin brightening serums and radiance boosting qualities.
Step 5
Step 5: Moisturise
This is the relaxing part! It’s time to wind down, pamper yourself and let your skin drink up the moisture, antioxidants and other nutrients from your moisturiser. Generously massage the moisturiser into your skin by using gentle, long strokes to help penetrate the goodness into your skin.
A good moisturiser, such as the new Hydra Hyaluronic Night Cream, is important throughout the year but while you may opt for a lighter product in summer, the cooler months may require a heavier cream-based choice.
